11 Days Rwanda & Tanzania Wildlife Safari Experience

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our company staff.  After a briefing about the safari, you will be introduced to your driver-guide. You will then be transferred to the hotel for check-in, then have the diner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Today, after enjoying an early morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. This center honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will have the opportunity to watch and listen to video clips from some of the survivors of the incident. After lunch, you will proceed with a drive to Volcanoes National Park, taking a scenic route to your booked accommodation. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the next day’s trekking.

Bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo in Rwanda, the Volcanoes National Park is best known as a sanctuary for the region’s rare mountain gorillas. Visitors flock here to experience a face-to-face encounter with these intriguing creatures. The park is set high on the jungle-covered slopes of the volcanic Virunga Mountains. Highly regulated treks through the reserve allow visitors to spend an hour at a time with these incredible primates in their natural habitat. While the gorillas are without a doubt the main drawcard, visitors can also look forward to exploring a network of scenic hiking trails, visiting the tomb of the world-famous Dian Fossey and the Karisoke Research Centre, and enjoying a beautiful day hike to the Crater Lake on Mount Bisoke.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and cultural village visit

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters. There, you will meet with your ranger who will brief you on the code of conduct while with the gorillas. You will then enter the forest in search of the gorillas. The trek may take 2-6 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas in the jungle and the speed of your group. You will have the opportunity to meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour. After this incredible experience, you will walk back to the starting point and be transferred to your lodge for lunch. Following lunch, you can choose to relax at your lodge at your leisure or head for a cultural encounter at Ibyiwacu cultural village to gain insight into Rwandan culture. Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Kigali

Today, after your warm early morning breakfast, you will be picked up by our safari driver-guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing. With your packed lunch, you will start your day with golden monkey trekking in search of these primates in the jungle. Similar to the gorilla trekking experience, golden monkey trekking is less strenuous. Afterward, you will return to the lodge for lunch, evening leisure, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Kigali International Airport – Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) – Arusha

After early breakfast, you will meet our driver and office representative for a transfer to Kigali International Airport, arriving in time for a check-in of your morning Flight leaving at 11:00am to Tanzania via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). On your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in the evening, you will meet our office representative with a driver for a meet and greet, later they will escort you in the vehicle for a 1-hour drive to Arusha, arriving at your Hotel/ Lodge for evening leisure, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park – Karatu

After early breakfast, you will meet our Safari Guide and drive to Lake Manyara National Park with your Picnic Lunch for a game drive. This Park is very famous of its tree climbing Lions. There are also other animals like Leopard, Hyenas, Cheetah, Gazelles, Impalas, Zebra, Gnu (Wildebeest), Buffaloes, Warthogs (Pumba) and other animals’ species with different types of Birds’ species. After the trip, drive out the Park and proceed to Ngorongoro conservation, arriving at your Lodge for your evening leisure, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Central Serengeti

After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater which is famous for Africa’s best game viewing as there is an ever-present abundance of wildlife due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Upon arrival at the Crater’s rim, you will descend 610 metres into the Crater where your safari truly begins. Spot the endangered black rhino as well as wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, eland, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelle and of course, giant tusked elephants. The Crater also has the largest known population of lions and you will also find leopards and cheetahs as well as scavengers such as spotted hyenas, jackals and rare wild dogs. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and these include white pelicans and flamingos. After the trip, drive out the crater and proceed to Central Serengeti, arriving at your Lodge/ Camp, arriving in time for evening leisure, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Full day at Central Serengeti

After breakfast, explore the endless plains of Serengeti National Park with your Picnic Lunch. This Park is one of the Africa’s premier games and the central Serengeti is a year-round visited and each season in the Serengeti National Park has its own special highlight with the most famous being the annual wildebeest migration which is a once in a lifetime experience.  After the trip, drive back to your Lodge/ Camp for your evening leisure, dinner and overnight stay. ***Today you have an option of doing a Hot Air Balloon***

Day 9: Central Serengeti – Karatu

After breakfast, proceed with a game drive over the endless plains of Serengeti along with your Picnic Lunch. After the trip, drive out the Serengeti National Park and proceed to Karatu, arriving at your Lodge in time for your evening leisure, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Karatu – Tarangire National Park – Arusha

After early breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for a game drive with a Picnic Lunch. This Park is very famous of the availability of Biggest Elephants and old Baobab trees. There are also other animals like Leopard, Lions, Hyenas, Cheetah, Gazelles, Impalas, Zebra, Gnu (Wildebeest), Buffaloes, Warthogs (Pumba) and other animals’ species with different types of Birds’ species. After the trip, drive out the Park and proceed to Arusha, arriving at your Luxury Hotel in time for evening leisure, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

After breakfast, depending on your departure schedules, you will meet our driver and office representative for a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your Flight back home or to your next destination.
